Nipissing University is situated on an escarpment on the traditional territory of Nipissing First Nation, and within the Robinson-Huron Treaty of 1850. We also acknowledge the nearby Anishnabek communities of Dokis First Nation and Temagami First Nation.

The City of North Bay, Ontario, is nestled between Lake Nipissing and Trout Lake and is surrounded by numerous protected natural areas, heritage forest parks and historical sites. Approximately a 3.5 hour drive or a quick 45-minute flight from either Toronto or Ottawa, our friendly and inviting city is a popular year-round destination. Offering plenty of activities, amenities, and services to meet your student needs, North Bay's vibrancy is only exceeded by its hospitality.

Lakes

Lake Nipissing and Trout Lake are located right in North Bay providing you with beautiful beaches, bike paths, great fishing spots and boating options that include cruising Lake Nipissing aboard the Chief Commanda II. For those who like to swim indoors, North Bay YMCA's Aquatic Centre includes a fully accessible 25 metre multi-lane pool and therapeutic, shallow and wading pools.

Campus Trails

There are many year-round activities to enjoy on campus. From viewing the beautiful fall colours along Duchesney Falls in September to cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in winter, you’ll have every opportunity to enjoy 20 kilometres of trails right on-campus. Students can sign out cross-country skis and snowshoes free-of-charge from the Athletics Centre.

The city boasts numerous opportunities for outdoor activities year-round on its beautiful beaches, golf courses, Nordic and downhill ski clubs, and urban bike/ trail systems. In addition to the activities available to you on campus, North Bay offers so much more:

Transportation

Although you could hike and bike your way around, a City of North Bay transit pass is included in all full-time student incidental fees.

For those scholars from outside North Bay who require a visit home (laundry anyone?), transportation options are readily available.

The bus/train station and airport are all only 15 minutes from campus.
